How it all began~

SVL Championship Trophy
The SVL was created in 2004. The first season featured 16 teams using  Diamond-Mind Baseball’s All-Time Greatest Players Disk.  In the spring of 2005, the SVL expanded to 20 teams and used the DMB 2005 projection disk.  In its 3rd season, the SVL expanded again, this time to 24 teams and used the 2005 season disk. SVL Season 18 went a different direction because of COVID-19.  This season used the best of the 2000's disk. SVL 19 returned to current MLB players. The SVL has continued for 19 seasons with 24 teams and owners.  SVL Season 19 is currently in season.

Svl hall of Fame

The SVL Hall of Fame was created in 2012 to honor the players, teams, and owners who have had monumental success in the Sandlot Vintage League.  The Hall of Fame consists of four different categories for which players, teams, and owners can be honored.  They are: Offensive Domination; Pitching Domination; Team Domination; and Owner
Domination.  There will be up to 2 entries each year
into the SVL Hall of Fame.

OFFENSE: Taylor  Teagarden, Jacksonville Jackrabbits, Season 6. Taylor Teagarden had the most incredible season in SVL history.  It was so incredible that it  forced the SVL into serious rule changes, mainly requiring batters  to have a minimum number of plate appearances in order to be eligible. Teagarden won the Triple Crown in Season 6, hitting .395 with
73 HR's and 193 RBI's.  The HR's and RBI's are SVL records. But what is even more important is that Teagarden only started against right handed pitchers.  He started 112 games for the season and came off the bench in 32 other games.  He was 9 for 52 against
lefties on the season.  But against righties, he hit .421 and slugged 1.067.  Teagarden had 504 total plate
appearances for the season, just 1 above the required 503 it took to qualify for the batting title.  Although
Jacksonville did not make the playoffs, it was still a season to remember.

TEAM: Columbus Lightning, Season 5.
The Columbus Lightning, owned by Brad Kruse, was the most dominant team in SVL history.  The Lightning won 109 games in the regular season, and went 12-1 in the playoffs to win the Season 5 title.  Season 5 allowed each team to include 2 Hall of Famers on their roster,
and Kruse drafted CF Ty Cobb and 1B Stan Musial.  Cobb won the MVP in season 5, hitting .412, scored
181 runs and had 286 hits, all SVL records.  Musial added a .361 average with 39 homers and 153 RBI's.
The Lightning hit .290 for the season as a club, and
also led the league in ERA.  Chris Young was their
leader on the mound, going 20-8 with a 2.67 ERA.
